Ask a questionA portable generator is a device that uses an internal combustion engine to produce electricity when the mains grid is not available. It is used during power cuts, on building sites, when camping and anywhere you need a reliable power source in the field.
Starting (surge) power is the short-term maximum power a generator delivers when devices with electric motors start up. Continuous power is the power the generator delivers during uninterrupted operation. When choosing a generator, always go by its continuous power.
No. Connecting a generator directly to a wall socket (known as backfeeding) is potentially fatal for you and for grid maintenance workers, and can damage your appliances. To power your home’s electrical installation, always use a transfer switch (ATS) installed by a qualified electrician.
A transfer switch safely connects the generator to your home or business electrical installation while preventing dangerous backfeeding into the grid. You need one if you want the generator to power fixed circuits such as lighting, heating or pumps. The automatic version (ATS) starts the generator by itself when the power goes out.
Regular maintenance is the key: change the oil after the first 5 hours of operation, then every 50 hours. Clean or replace the air filter once a year, and the spark plug too. Keep the generator clean and dry, and run it at least once a week for about 30 minutes. You will find detailed instructions in the manual or from our service team.
Always place the generator outdoors on a dry, level surface, away from windows, doors and ventilation openings. Exhaust fumes contain deadly carbon monoxide, so never use a generator indoors, in cellars or in garages.
