SPARK industrial diesel generators — uncompromising power for continuous operation

Do you need a completely reliable source of electricity for an industrial plant, farm, commercial building or construction site? SPARK industrial diesel generators are designed for the most demanding operating conditions, where a power outage is not an option.

Key features

Unlike smaller portable generators, these stationary generators are equipped with robust water-cooled industrial and marine engines running at low speed (1,500 rpm). They provide exceptional runtime, high fuel efficiency, quiet operation in soundproof canopies and the option of fully automatic transfer in the event of a grid outage (ATS). For the highest energy demands, they allow several generators to be connected in parallel and synchronised with the public grid, and they are available with top engines from renowned Asian and European manufacturers.

Buying guide:Why are SPARK industrial generators the right investment?

In professional use, it is essential to distinguish between generators for occasional emergency power and industrial units built for multi-shift or continuous operation. SPARK industrial generators represent the pinnacle of engineering, combining low-speed mechanical components, top-class soundproofing and advanced microprocessor controllers.

A service engineer's insight:Why does an industrial generator last up to 50,000 operating hours?

In our service department, we often see failures of smaller air-cooled generators because users tried to use them as an industrial power source. The difference in design and service life is enormous:

Engine speed (1,500 vs. 3,000 rpm)

Standard portable generators run at a high speed of 3,000 revolutions per minute and are air-cooled. Their service life is only around 1,000 hours, and they require valve adjustment every 100 hours. SPARK industrial generators use water-cooled marine and industrial engines that run at just 1,500 revolutions per minute. This means half the friction, drastically lower operating temperatures and incomparably less material wear.

Service life

With regular servicing (oil and filter changes every 250–500 hours), an industrial diesel generator easily reaches between 20,000 and 50,000 operating hours before major overhaul work.

The 30–70% load rule

The golden service rule also applies to industrial generators – ideal operation is between 30% and 70% of rated power. Running continuously at 100% capacity shortens the life of any engine, while sizing with an adequate reserve guarantees decades of reliable operation.

Choice of engines:From affordable Asian to premium global brands

Because every project has its own specific requirements and budget, SPARK industrial generators are available with a wide range of engines. You can choose between more affordable, proven Asian engines or opt for established European and premium global brands:

Renowned Asian engines

An excellent balance of price, reliability and low maintenance costs (e.g. Yangdong, Ricardo).

European and global premium brands

  • Baudouin (France) – top-class marine and industrial engines with exceptional durability.
  • Deutz (Germany) – German precision, efficiency and a long service life.
  • Iveco / FPT (Italy) – high performance, advanced technology and excellent torque.
  • Cummins (USA) – a global leader in heavy industry and demanding applications.
  • Volvo Penta (Sweden) – top Swedish quality, low consumption and a low emissions footprint.
  • Perkins (England) – a legend among industrial diesel engines, with reliability at the highest level.

Advanced functions:Parallel connection and grid synchronisation

For more complex industrial facilities and larger energy needs, SPARK generators offer advanced energy management solutions:

Parallel connection (parallel system)

Allows two or more generators to be interconnected to achieve a higher total power. The system manages the load automatically – at lower consumption only one generator runs (saving fuel), and when demand increases, the controller automatically starts and connects additional generators. Such a system also provides 100% backup security (redundancy); if one of the generators needs servicing, the other continues to power the critical loads.

Synchronisation with the grid (Parallel to Mains / Peak Lopping)

Advanced controllers make it possible to match the generator's voltage, frequency and phase angle with the public grid. This enables a seamless power transfer without even a millisecond of interruption (Bumpless Transfer), or the covering of peak loads (Peak Shaving), where the generator supports the grid at times of highest demand.

Key features ofSPARK industrial generators

Water-cooled marine and industrial engines (1,500 rpm)

Multi-cylinder diesel engines deliver high torque even at low speeds. Water cooling with a radiator and fan allows trouble-free operation 24 hours a day, even at high outdoor temperatures.

Soundproof, weatherproof canopy (Canopy)

Industrial generators are built into galvanised, powder-coated canopies lined with thick sound-insulating foam. The canopy protects the generator from rain, snow and corrosion and drastically reduces the noise level.

Advanced microprocessor controller (Smart Controller)

Digital control panels give you a constant view of key parameters: voltage, frequency, current, coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level and operating hours, and support protocols for synchronisation and parallel operation.

ATS automatic transfer and remote monitoring

All SPARK industrial generators are ready for connection to an ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) cabinet. When mains power fails, the generator starts automatically within a few seconds and takes over the building's power supply.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Parallel connection allows two or more generators to work together as a single energy source. The system automatically coordinates their operation and adds or disconnects individual generators according to current energy consumption. This provides greater flexibility, lower fuel consumption at partial loads and high reliability (if one partially fails or goes in for servicing, the others continue to power the building).

Synchronisation means that the generator matches its voltage, frequency and phase to the public grid. It is used for seamless power transfer without an outage (Bumpless Transfer) or for "Peak Shaving" – covering consumption peaks, where the generator runs in parallel with the grid and helps reduce the cost of expensive grid electricity.

The choice depends on your preferences, budget and service requirements. Asian engines offer an excellent balance of price and performance for standard applications. European and American premium brands (such as Cummins, Perkins, Volvo, Deutz, Iveco, Baudouin), on the other hand, offer the highest level of reliability, the lowest emissions, a long service life and worldwide availability of spare parts, which is essential for critical industrial infrastructure.

Engines running at 1,500 revolutions per minute turn twice as slowly as standard portable generators (3,000 rpm). Half the speed means drastically less friction, lower operating temperatures, lower fuel consumption and up to 50 times longer engine life.

Regular maintenance includes changing the engine oil, oil filter, fuel filter and air filter every 250 to 500 operating hours (or once a year). It is also advisable to check the coolant level and battery condition regularly and to carry out an occasional test start under load.
