SPARK silent generators — soundproof generators for a peaceful environment

Looking for a reliable source of electricity that will not disturb you, your neighbours or your visitors while it runs? SPARK silent generators are developed with a minimal noise level, high efficiency and maximum ease of use in mind.

Key features

They are the perfect choice for residential neighbourhoods, holiday homes, camping, outdoor events, restaurant terraces, fieldwork in urban centres and as quiet backup power for homes and businesses. Thanks to soundproof canopies, advanced silencers and anti-vibration dampers, they run considerably more quietly than classic open-frame generators.

Buying guide:How do silent generators work, and how do you choose the right one?

When choosing a silent generator, the noise level is measured in decibels (dB(A)) at a standard distance of 7 metres. To give you an idea: a standard non-insulated generator produces around 90–95 dB(A) of noise, while SPARK silent inverter and enclosed generators reach exceptionally low noise levels at 50% load (from as little as 59 dB(A)), equivalent to a quiet conversation or household appliances running.

The low noise level is achieved through a combination of three key elements:

Soundproof canopy (Soundproof Enclosure)
Built-in high-density composite insulating foam that absorbs sound waves inside the unit.
Special exhaust silencers
Multi-chamber exhaust systems with silencers that drastically reduce exhaust noise.
Anti-vibration dampers (Silent Block)
Rubber dampers between the engine and the chassis that prevent vibrations being transmitted to the ground and the housing.

Important noteSoundproofing levels of industrial generators

In addition to standard sound insulation (Silent / Soundproof), shown in the table above, industrial practice recognises two more advanced levels of noise attenuation for specific environments:

Super Silent

Generators with double sound insulation of the housing and additionally attenuated air ducts, for areas where stricter noise limits apply (residential neighbourhoods, night-time events).

Medical Grade Super Silent

The highest level of sound insulation, in which a standard soundproofed generator is placed in an additional, larger insulated container and fitted with a special super-silent, physically much larger exhaust silencer. Such systems are used at critical locations such as hospitals, health centre complexes, recording studios and sites with zero tolerance for noise.

Service insight:Sound insulation means a greater need for proper cooling!

Silent generators offer exceptional comfort, but a soundproof enclosed housing brings specific operating requirements that our service team draws attention to:

Heat stays trapped – do not enclose the generator in additional spaces!

Because the generator is already enclosed in a soundproof housing, high temperatures build up inside it during operation. The air ducts in the housing are precisely sized to draw in cool air and expel hot air. Never enclose a silent generator further in small unventilated boxes, sheds or cabinets, as this will prevent air circulation, leading to rapid overheating of the electronics or engine seizure.

Two types of silent generatorsPetrol inverter vs. encapsulated diesel

Petrol inverter silent generators: Extremely light, compact and quiet. Ideal for light to medium loads (camping, weekend homes, laptops, occasional backup power).

Diesel soundproof generators (fully enclosed): Heavier, more robust generators on a chassis. Suitable for larger loads, all-day operation and permanent backup power for houses, farms or construction sites in urban areas.

Correct placement for minimal noise and many years of operation

For the lowest noise level and for safety, place a generator of suitable size on a level, dry and firm surface. The air inlet and outlet openings must be at least 1 to 1.5 metres from the nearest wall or obstacle.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The decibel scale is logarithmic – a noise reduction of 10 dB halves the perceived loudness. A standard open-frame generator produces around 90–95 dB(A), while SPARK silent enclosed generators run at 59–75 dB(A) at 50% load. In practice, this means silent generators are up to 4 times quieter than conventional open-frame generators.

No! Despite their low noise level, silent generators still use an internal combustion engine, which produces a deadly and dangerous gas – carbon monoxide (CO) – as well as a large amount of heat. Silent generators must always run outdoors or in a purpose-designed engine room with exhaust gas extraction and a fresh air supply.

Modern SPARK silent generators have advanced air ducts and built-in fans that ensure optimal cooling inside the canopy. Overheating only occurs if the user covers the air openings, places the generator right next to a wall or encloses it in a small makeshift box with no airflow.

On silent inverter generators, the Smart Throttle system automatically reduces engine speed when the connected devices do not need full power. When the load is lower (e.g. only lights or a phone charger connected), the generator runs at extremely low revs, which means near-silent operation (from 59 dB(A)) and minimal fuel consumption.

Inverter generators

Yes, silent generators are the most popular choice for houses in densely built-up neighbourhoods. During a power cut they can also run at night without disturbing your sleep or your neighbours.
